17-year-old Max Hesse already proved his talent as a successful race driver early on in his motorsports career. He already raced from title to title in his kart and tied in with this now in a touring car. In his first full season in the ADAC TCR Germany, he achieved the rookie title in the high-class racing series.
Seven racing events in Germany, the Czech Republic, Austria and the Netherlands awaited Max Hesse from Wernau. The junior of the Phoenix Racing Team (known from the German Touring Car Masters (DTM)) belonged to the best drivers among the field of the racing series right from the beginning.
He was able to look back on considerable success in the end. Five victories in the rookie ranking and numerous top placements ultimately made him champion. Powered by an Audi RS3 LMS from the team PROsport Performance, the youngster’s summary of the season was very positive: “I’m very thankful to my partners and supporters for the opportunity to start in the ADAC TCR Germany. The racing series is very strong and the races were always narrow. In the rookie ranking we changed positions almost every weekend. In the end it was enough to win the title and I’m very proud of that. It was our goal from the beginning to end up at the top. To achieve this in the end is obviously a great reward for our hard work during the course of the season. My team played an equally big role in this success and I’d really like to thank them.”
Max is not going to sit quietly at home during the upcoming months though. The young race driver is working on the plans for the 2019 season: “Currently we have several options which we are now checking out. I’m sure that we’ll have a great package again in 2019. Right now it’s still open in which car and which series I’m going to start.”
